Mural FAQ

How big are wall murals?

❯ Most murals measure approximately 13' wide x 8' high  or aprox 396cm x 244cm, we can print at really any size by printing additional panels.

Is it easy to install?

❯ Yes! Your mural can be removed and reused without damaging your wall. The material is very similar to a peel-and-stick wall décor.

What is the best format to use for a digital photo?

❯ We can print from almost any type of photo or digital file but the best quality prints come from high resolution images (i.e. 5+ megapixel digital camera photos). Send your digital images by uploading them using the form on this page or by emailing them to us. We prefer JPEG files when being sent this way to keep the file sizes smaller. Please do not compress the image too much as this will lower the quality of the final print. If in doubt send us the original file from the camera and we will be able to crop it to your requirements.

How do I get the best quality Mural Print?

❯ Take your photos at the highest possible resolution on your camera. Most cameras have a setting called Fine, medium and low quality - Fine will produce the best quality when used on the highest resoluton setting. Our select from our online Photo Library.

❯ If you would like to purchase one of the larger mural print sizes then a high resolution original is important. If your image is low resolution then one of our designers can always enhance the image to ensure the print will look it's best.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

1. Start with good preparation

Be sure to start with a smooth, clean surface.

Remove picture hooks, light fixtures, and switch plates. Wash off grease or dirt and rinse with warm water.
Fill cracks and holes with spackling compound, and sand until smooth.

2. Start with good preparation

Use a light pencil to mark the desired starting point for your mural on the wall. Use the top left corner of your mural to begin. Then measure the width of the panel, and make a 2nd point where it ends (across horizontally, not vertically). From this point, use your level to make a straight vertical line. This will be your guideline for the right hand side of your first mural panel.

3. Your mural may have a bleed area

Your mural may have as much as a 1 inch bleed (extra image area) on each side of the mural panel(s). This overage is to accommodate irregular walls or ceiling lines.

4. Peel and stick your mural panel

Start at the top of the panel and peel back the liner a few inches. Lining up with your pencil guideline, apply the adhesive side of panel by smoothing it onto the wall with your hands. DO NOT peel off the entire liner all at once. Slowly and evenly peel back the liner a few inches at a time and apply. Consider having another person hold the bottom of the mural as you work your way down and apply the rest of the panel.
Smooth all wrinkles and bubbles outward, until they are removed. Do not use pressure. Simple light strokes work best. Be careful not to stretch the mural while positioning. If wrinkles or bubbles appear, simply peel back the panel and reapply that section. It’s easy!

5. For additional panels:

• Align panel #2 to panel #1. When matching panel #2 to panel #1, there will be a 2” overlap. This is correct. Simply match the pattern of the mural. Do not install the panels with edges butt together.
• Repeat for additional panels.
OPTIONAL: Double-cut overlapping seams
(Video available on our website) Place your straightedge in the middle of the overlap and cut thru both layers. Peel away the outer piece of excess material. Now peel away the remaining excess material underneath the overlap. Smooth the panels back together, so the edges butt now together.

6. Trim Coverage

• When all panels have been adhered, trim any ceiling and baseboard overage, using your straight edge. Go slowly and change blades often for the best result.
